Christchurch RFC
Fawley RFC

In round 6 Christchurch played hosts to Fawley 2s on thankfully a much nicer afternoon then the previous week.

Fawley started the better of the two teams and put the first points on the board within the first 5 minutes with an unconverted try.  Christchurch had to defend stoutly against a confident Fawley thus preventing them further scores before Chirstchurch hit back with a converted try, Matty Mycroft scoring and converting.  This gave Christchurch the confidence they needed to get themselves back into the game and then with his first try for the club Jacob Bridges crossed the line to give Christchurch a 12 - 5 lead at the break.

The second half saw Christchurch take control with two converted tries before Fawley came back with a converted try of their own.  Christchurch kept up their pressure and through a penalty kick and 3 more tries, one converted, finished the victors 46 - 12 to complete their second win in a row.

A special mention has to go to the father and son combination for the try of the match which saw James (Daddy) Pidgley pick the ball up around the half way line and make a break through the centre of the Fawley defence, with only their full back to beat he pefectly timed an inside pass to his son, Jamie, who was clear through to score under the posts.

Confidence and belief is starting to grow within the squad and the rugby being played is testomony to that. Christchurch fielded one debutant for the club this week Blake, who has made an immediate impact and improved the squad, welcome Blake.  No rest again for the lads as we welcome Tottonians 3s to Grange Road on the 6th December 2025, KO 14:00.

Christchurch scorers on the day were:

  • Sam Farnden - 2 tries
  • Matty Mycroft - 1 try, 4 conversions & 1 penalty
  • Jacob Bridges - 1 try
  • Chris Freeman - 1 try
  • Jamie Pidgley - 1 try
  • Joshua Legg - 1 try

Player of the Match:

Jamie Pidgley for his all round performance and for the try of the game, but I'm sure James will tell you he did all the hard work :-)

D*** of the Day:

Kristan Woodland-Emery – Just needs the ball to stick and he will be unstopable.
