Trojans FC
Christchurch RFC

For round 2 of the Counties 6 Hampshire league season Christchurch made the trip down to Eastleigh to face Trojans II.  Both had good wins in round 1 and confidence was high in both camps.

The game was a very physical contest but played in a great spirit.  The first half was tighlty contested, defences on top throughout meant the scoring was kept to a minimum.  Christchuch struck first with a penalty shot at goal by Noah Legg, 0 - 3.  Trojans fought back and converted a penalty of their own to bring the scores level at 3 -3.  A second penalty kick to Christchurch successfully slotted over again by Noah Legg took Christchurch to a 3 - 6 lead into half time.

The second half followed the same pattern as the first, physical with the defences again on top and foiling any attempts to get the ball out wide.  The first points of the half went to Trojans with another penalty to bring the scores level, 6 -6.  Finally Christchurch managed to exploit some space off a line out that saw them move the ball across the backline to score the first try of the game by Jake Pidgley and converted by Noah Legg to give Christchurch a 6 - 13 lead.  Christchurch pushed forward looking for the next score and were rewarded again from the boot of Noah Legg as he converted his third penalty of the game to extend the lead to 6 - 16.

As players on both sides began to tire spaces started to open up but the defences stood firm until with around 10 minutes to go, Christchurch stole the ball back from a Trojans attack but a poor clearance allowed Trojans to find some space out wide, a supurb last ditch tackle from Jake Pidgley prevented the score initially but Trojans had support in numbers and managed to get the ball across the line for a try of their own and successfully conveting it to take the score to 13 - 16.  Trojans pushed to get the winning points but again the Christchurch defence stood firm and when they had the ball pushed to extend their lead which they did in the final few minutes from a penalty converted by Noah Legg to take the score to 13 - 19 and the victory to Christchurch.

A massive thank you to all those who came along to support, an away trip with so many supporters was great to see and all the lads really appreciated it.
